was a tremendous success.

The guest list included both experienced martial arts practitioners and qute a few folks with little to zero training in the martial arts including several doctors who showed up to learn the ins and outs of Kyushojitsu The Art of Vital Point/Pressure Point Striking.

The art of using pressure points for combat has many names in the Orient, Among them Kyushojitsu, Tuitejitsu, Dim Mak or as it is commonly called -- Death Touch or Poison Hand Striking.

The seminar focused on basic pressure point theory and quickly moved to practical applications of pressure point/Kyusho techniques.

Students were then given a preview of the advanced kyusho pressure point and energetic counters.

The doctors were pretty very surprised when just a simple movement of the arm or leg completely changed the subjects ability to resist, and responsivness to the pressure points they had just been learning.

The seminar attendees were then introduced to Master Level Energetics and got to feel first hand how the energy of pressure point attacking is amplified when combined with the proper energy sounds.

To say they were floored is both a literal and metaphorical description of what happened next.

The Next Free Introduction To Pressure Points and the Art of Kyushojitsu will be posted very soon.

Be sure to check in and sign up for our FREE Meetup Guest List by heading on over to meetup.com and looking for the San Diego Pressure Point Self Defense Meetup Group.

To continue to recieve updates about upcoming seminars and training opportunities in the San Diego area be sure to keep checking our blog for updates or head on over to our main website KyushoKempo.com

I promise I will start posting more as events unfold. We are currently working on setting up regular weekly classes and monthly seminars in the San Diego area for people to finally come and learn this ancient and effective method of self defense.

To learn about private training opportunities contact me at shihan@kyushokempo.com

Kyusho Technique of the Week "Pareto's Approach to Pressure Point Fighting Part 1"

Hi All, I want to start off this weeks posting with some conceptual stuff regarding the application of kyusho. My belief is that in order to pressure point work to be effective and viable as a method of self defense, (not just against a relatively untrained fighter as in a street confrontation but also against much more highly skilled opponents such as one might find in a MMA match or some other no holds barred fighting context.)

It first and foremost must be a simple technique. Why? Because as anyone who has ever been in combat will tell you almost never run into exactly the same technique you practiced against in exactly the same way that you practiced it.

Every time you go up against a particular expression or form of a technique its like the first time because all of variables surrounding it are different than the last time you faced it.

Does that make sense? Maybe not, its late and I am rambling.

Nevertheless at this particular moment it makes sense to me.

Now many kyusho practitioners rely heavily on their kata as the ultimate resource for their pressure point techniques. This is both a good and a bad thing. But unless you have certain ideas in place and a specific approach to using your kata effectively, well, its mostly bad.

Why?

Glad you asked.

I'll Tell You Tomorrow.

David
www.kyushokempo.com

Welcome To Kyusho Kempo Ryu

Hi this is my personal blog where I like to review and often comment on the wonderful world of kyusho jitsu, pressure point self defense generally all things martial. I think you will find that inspite of my great respect and love of the pressure point/energy combat disciplines I am often pretty critical of many of its practitioners.

Why?

Because as my dear ole dad used to say money talks bullshit walks.

You can go to any youtube and pull up tons of videos of so-called pressure point masters summarily getting there respective butts kicked by anyone from an mma background.

Why?

Well there are lots of reasons, but I can tell its not because the MMA guy didn't believe in the pressure points (although belief systems do influence your susceptibility to neurological attacking), nor was it because the guys tongue was placed in a different part of his mouth or because his bladder meridian was off the ground .

Oddly enough some of these things do affect ones ability to use pressure point work but they should never be used as an excuse in my opinion.

In fact there are about as many ways to screw up a pressure point knockout as there are ways to enhance them.

That being said I want you to know that I am a firm believer in the pressure point arts. But I am often dismayed by the many folks out there who seem to fail to grasp the concept that pressure point work is "advanced" work for most people. If you don't have solid fighting skills, and attributes ...

You should be learning those first!

When people first discover kyusho they are like kids in a candy store.

All they want to do is learn more and more points, the hell with actually learning good solid fighting skills and then actually building in the kinds of drills that allow you to actually strike a moving pressure point when your adrenal cortex dumps about 30 gallons of hormones into your system all at the same time causing your butt to pucker up and your brains to drop out.

Over the past decade I have been working on and developing a kyusho based fighting system that develops strong powerful and FAST fighting skills in minimum time. But my approach is by far NOT THE NORM.

Oops...

Sorry, I went on a bit of rampage there didn't I?

Well anyway, welcome to my blog.

Feel free to post your comments and opinions. In fact I am thinking about starting a Combat Kyushojitsu newsletter. Tell me what you think about that. yay or nay?

Also if you go to the first page of my website you can actually watch a brief video of me doing a very practical and workable kyusho pressure point knockout.

you can see it here

http://www.kyushokempo.com

Just be sure that if your going to try the knockout that you do so only under the supervision of a qualified pressure point instructor. Whacking somebody on their cranial nerves is (pardon the pun) not to be taken lightly.

Talk at ya soon.

Sincerely
Master David L Snyder
Founder Kyusho Kempo Ryu
